In a move to ease the burden on residents, the Telangana government has introduced a special program allowing people to settle their outstanding traffic challans at significantly reduced rates. The initiative, running from December 26 to January 10, offers substantial discounts ranging from 60% to 90%.

Challan Statistics:

Approximately two crore traffic challans are pending in the state, reflecting the magnitude of the issue. Nationally, in 2022, over 4.73 million challans amounting to ₹7,563.60 crore were issued, with a substantial outstanding sum of ₹4,654.26 crore.

  • 2 & 3 wheeler vehicle: 20% Fine / 80% Waiver
  • RTC Vehicle: 10% Fine / 90% Waiver
  • Push Carts: 10% Fine / 90% Waiver
  • 4 & Heavy wheeler vehicle: 40% Fine / 60% Waiver
