The Government of Tamil Nadu launched the Tamil Nadu Higher Education Assurance Scheme. This scheme will provide a monthly deposit to all girls studying in government schools to encourage them and assist them in pursuing higher education. This scheme was announced by the finance minister palanivel Thiaga Rajan on 18th of March 2022. This scheme will deposit Rs 1000 into the accounts of girls enrolled in public schools. This scheme will benefit around 6 lac girls. This scheme will cost the government 698 crores.
Objective of the TN Higher Education Assurance Scheme
The Higher Education Assurance Scheme’s main goal is to give girls financial support so they can pursue their higher education. The girls of Tamil Nadu no longer have to depend on anyone else for their education needs. The government will provide financial assistance. The girls will receive financial support of Rs. 1000 per month through this scheme. This scheme was launched to address the problem of low enrollment rates of girls in higher education from government schools. This scheme will also increase literacy rates. The girls will also be able to become independent.

- Tamil Nadu Permanent Resident Applicant
- The applicant must be a student in the 6th through 12th grades.
- The girl must be from the economically weaker part of society
- This scheme is only open to girls who attend government schools
