Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced the inauguration of Kerala Saturday 11 February 2023 Advocate Stipend Scheme. Although this program was formally introduced in March 2018, it is now ready to benefit young lawyers in Kerala. To each eligible beneficiary thereof Kerala Stipend Scheme for Lawyers 3,000 per month as a stipend. Under Section 9 of the Kerala Lawyers’ Welfare Act, 1980, junior lawyers are entitled to a monthly stipend from the Committee of Trustees.

The Advocate Welfare Fund constituted under the Act shall be utilized for disbursement of stipend. The Kerala government earlier sanctioned a monthly stipend of up to Rs. 5000/- to the Junior Advocates of a particular category from the Welfare Fund established under the Kerala Lawyers Welfare Fund Act, 1980 vide order dated March 9, 2018.
