IBPS RRB 2023 Preliminary Exam

IBPS conducts preliminary examination only for two posts namely Office Assistant (Clerk) and Officer Scale I (PO). The preliminary examination is the first stage of the selection process for these two posts and candidates.

  • The IBPS RRB 2023 Clerk and PO Preliminary Exam has two sections: Reasoning and Numerical Aptitude.
  • Each section consists of 40 multiple choice questions, making a total of 80 questions of 1 mark each.

  • The Mains exam consists mainly of 5 sections: Reasoning, English/Hindi Language, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge.
  • A total of 200 multiple choice questions will be asked, carrying 1 mark each.
  • There will be no section timing in mains exam.
  • Candidates will be allotted 2 hours combined time.
  • Each wrong answer will carry a negative mark of 0.25 marks.
  • Candidates who have applied for IBPS RRB Scale II Specialist Officer post will be given 30 minutes extra time for additional section which is “Professional Knowledge” section which consists of 40 questions in total. That means candidates who have applied for this post will be given a total of 150 minutes to solve a total of 240 questions.

IBPS RRB 2023 Interview

Candidates who have applied for IBPS RRB Office Assistant post have no interview round. For these candidates, the final selection will be based on the marks obtained in the main examination.

Candidates who pass the Office Scale I Main Examination or Office Scale II and III single examinations will be invited for interview round.

  • The interview round will be conducted in different cities of the country.
  • The interview session carries a total of 100 marks.
  • Weightage of Main Exam/Single Exam and Interview will be 80:20.
